Genioplasty (Chin Augmentation)
In order to obtain a more prominent contour of the cheek or chin region implants may be inserted in the appropriate places through small incisions inside the mouth. This relatively simple procedure may eliminate the need for a face or neck lift or even enhance the perceived effects of a rhinoplasty (nose) and lead to a more harmonious facial profile. As an alternative, a genioplasty (bony chin reshaping) may be performed to reshape, enhance or reduce the chin projection. This is also performed through small incisions inside the mouth and since an implant is not used it may eliminate the potential for any infection or shifting. Both of these procedures may be performed on an outpatient basis with local or general anesthetic.
